This Old Edmonton House: Historic Interiors Tour

In conjunction with the City of Edmonton's This Old Edmonton House Seminars, we are pleased to present a Historic Interiors Tour.

This Old Edmonton House is a series of public seminars about owning, maintaining, and restoring a historic home. An expert in each field will lead each seminar. Come prepared with your problems and questions and leave with potential solutions and answers.

In this workshop, you will join Johanne Yakula and learn about how interiors of homes have evolved over time, and how these were related to Edmonton’s context. Wall treatments, colours, major styles of decor, types of lighting, and accessories for homes generally built up to 1930 will be discussed. The workshop ends with a tour of Rutherford House on the University of Alberta campus to view firsthand how the former Premier’s residence was laid out. The focus of this tour will be the layout, materials, lighting and furniture (now antique) that was prevalent at the time.
